COMPETITION | Bodrum Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy Center

A collaborative design process we carried out as a team for the "Bodrum Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy Center Architectural Design Competition," organized by Bodrum Health Foundation in collaboration with the Bodrum Branch of the Chamber of Architects of Muğla (TMMOB).

Our design proposal envisions a healthcare facility that harmonizes with its surroundings, prioritizes its therapeutic qualities, and contributes to the social and public life of the city. Design decisions were informed by a detailed analysis of the site’s orientation, surrounding settlements, transportation links, and natural context.

The building’s role within the urban fabric goes beyond providing healthcare services; it aspires to function as a public space that encourages social interaction and enhances the collective memory of Bodrum.

The project adopts a spatial strategy that supports users’ physical and mental healing processes. A courtyard layout improves natural light and air circulation, reducing energy consumption. Therapy gardens and public spaces foster a sense of community. The public square in front of the building and the adjacent park continue to serve as social gathering areas even outside clinic hours, further integrating the center into the dynamic life of the city.

Energy efficiency and sustainability are central to the project’s ethos. Passive ventilation, maximum use of natural light, and the use of local materials shape an environmentally conscious structure. A reinforced concrete frame ensures durability and safety, while water conservation measures and renewable energy sources support a sustainable operation model.

This center is envisioned not just as a medical facility, but as a flexible and future-oriented public building that enriches the social and urban life of Bodrum.
